The #BEACTIVE DAY 2023 project Inclusion Guide is now out!

This year, #BEACTIVE DAY has adopted an intergenerational approach to get the youngest and oldest age groups more active, more often, and together. Being physically active is essential for people of all ages, though it has been demonstrated that younger and older age groups face a unique set of barriers and age specific needs to be less sedentary. Both groups therefore require targeted approaches for effective physical activity promotion- and bringing them together to do so could even contribute to enhancing social cohesion.  experiences.

Following the Campaign workshop in Budapest, where experts from Fit&Sund and Les Mills shared their insights on this year's campaign focus with #BEACTIVE DAY 2023 project’s partners, the #BEACTIVE DAY 2023 Inclusion Guide has been collaboratively written between experts and the project consortium, and translated into the respective languages of partners. The Guide is now available in Czech, English, French, Greek, Hungarian, Latvian, Macedonian, Portuguese, Romanian, and Serbian.

The guide provides an overview of the current physical inactivity ‘pandemic’, explains how age is a defining factor of engagement, and reviews the common barriers to being physically active for both younger and older generations. It then offers a roadmap for how fitness and physical activity providers can enact an intergenerational approach to create more accessible and inclusive opportunities for different generations to come together and engage in physical activity.
